Eller, others honored at annual Chamber banquet

The Thomson-McDuffie Chamber of Commerce held its 37th annual membership banquet Tuesday evening at the Belle Meade Country Club with approximately 180 members in attendance. The Chamber's most prestigious award, the Darrell Johnson Award, was presented to Audrey Eller, the Small Business Person of the Year Award went to Lewis Smith, the Volunteer of the Year awards were Johnette Belle and Peter and Camille Ruddick. A new award this year, called the Ambassador Award, was given to Donna Bussell.

Audrey Eller is known throughout Thomson as the "Flower Lady."

Lewis Smith -- Small Business Person of the Year

He didn't plan to attend the annual banquet until a friend invited him to go along. And after it was over, Lewis Smith had received a lot more than a good dinner. Mr. Smith was named the 2009 Small Business Person of the Year at the Chamber of Commerce banquet Tuesday evening.

Johnette Bell, Camille and Peter Ruddick -- Volunteers of the Year

Three different people were named "Volunteers of The Year" during the 37th Annual Banquet of the Thomson-McDuffie Chamber of Commerce held Tuesday night at Belle Meade Country Club.

Donna Bussell -- Ambassador of the Year

Donna Bussell never dreamt that she would be the recipient of the "Ambassador of The Year" award by the Thomson-McDuffie Chamber of Commerce.
