| McDuffie Museum closing for project |
An old, familiar sight from Railroad Street will soon be visible in the McDuffie Museum. Director Jenny Lindsey said the museum will be closed the second week of December for the reconstruction and installation of Jake McCord's front porch.

| Hickory Hill tour to feature traditions rooted in nature |

Hickory Hill has gone to the birds, and the home's annual holiday tour will join the flock. Curator Michelle Zupan said the tour will take place the final weekend of the Southern Naturalists exhibit currently on display there.

The tour will begin at Watson-Luckey House, 454 East Hill St. Chauferred transportation provided with last tour leaving at 6:15 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door and are available at Peacock Hill, Luckey Printing and the Chamber office.

As a result of state budget cuts, the Agricultural Services Laboratories will have to increase fees for many of the testing services provided through the McDuffie County Extension Office. The decision follows similar moves by several states. Fortunately, soil sample charges have not increased. Soil sample analysis is by far used most often in our area.

Nearly six inches of rain fell in parts of McDuffie and Warren counties last week, as a result of Tropical Storm Ida that made its way across the region. Here, overflowing waters rush into Mattox Creek off Mesena Road. At least three roads were closed from flooding.
