WARRENTON, Ga. -- The Warren County Screaming Devils nearly pulled off the biggest win of the football season last Friday night when they entertained the Washington-Wilkes Tigers. The Tigers prevailed 21-18 thanks to a 1-yard touchdown run with 3:02 left in the game.

Win or lose, the football season at Thomson High School will come to an end this Friday night at The Brickyard. This year, unlike any other at Thomson, coach Welsh is having to cope with a losing season and the fact that his team has been eliminated from the playoff picture.

The Thomson High Lady Bulldogs finished eighth in the final Georgia High School Association rankings in Class AAA softball. And Thomson head coach Jason Osborn couldn't be more proud of his team.

This Friday night, the Buccaneers get back to business when they play host to Young American's School. The game, slated for 7:30 p.m., is Briarwood's homecoming when a new queen will be crowned during halftime.
