WAYNESBORO, Ga. -- Both Thomson and Burke County knew exactly what was on the line when they met each other on the football field at The Bear Den in Waynesboro last Friday night: the playoffs. Both teams faced the possibility of being ousted from the playoffs.

Win or lose, the football season at Thomson High School will come to an end this Friday night at The Brickyard. This year, unlike any other at Thomson, coach Welsh is having to cope with a losing season and the fact that his team has been eliminated from the playoff picture.

The Thomson High Lady Bulldogs finished eighth in the final Georgia High School Association rankings in Class AAA softball. And Thomson head coach Jason Osborn couldn't be more proud of his team.
