Willie Green, a retired Army sergeant, was included in a group of veterans on a memorial in Alma, Ga. The memorial wall recognizes the service of veterans from World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam and the Gulf War.
Ret. Sgt. Green served in Korea and was awarded the Bronze Star for heroism during ground combat in the Republic of Vietnam in 1967. He and his wife, Suzanne Hunt Green, live in Thomson. He is active in the local VFW and a volunteer at the Augusta VA Medical Center.
The Alma, Ga.-memorial was paid for with money raised by the families of veterans and the Alma community. Ret. Sgt. Green's daughter, Becky Vickers, lives in Alma.
