Mr. Robert 'Bob' Roper Volunteer Director of We Care THOMSON, Ga.- Mr. Robert 'Bob' Roper, 76, widower of Mrs. Mary Roper, of Hillcrest Drive, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003 in the McDuffie Regional Hospital. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003 in the Thomson First Baptist Church, with Rev. Butch Baston and Father Edward O'Connor officiating. Mr. Roper was a native of Akron, Ohio, but had lived in Thomson for many years. He was a retired Postal Worker and had served as the Voluntary Director of 'We Care' for over 10 years. He was an Army Air Corps Veteran. He was a member of Thomson First Baptist Church where he was a member of the Men's Bible Class and he was actively involved with the Queen of Angels Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Mary and a son, Robert Stephen. He is survived by four daughters, Rebecca Jewell, Idaho Falls, Idaho, Susan McMillan, Appling, Ellen Roper, Newburgh, Ind., and Laurie Harmon, Augusta; his son, Jim Roper, Brazil; and three grandchildren, Lean Walls, Michael Jewell, and Stephen Harmon.
