WRENS, Ga. - Funeral services for Deacon Johnnie Winnon Shields, 97, of Wrens, were held on Friday, December 29, 2006, at 1 p.m. at the Stamp Branch Baptist Church, Warrenton, with Rev. Robert L. Martin officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Deacon Shields was a lifetime member and deacon of Stamp Branch Baptist Church. He was a farmer all of his life.
Survivors: sons, Harvey L. (Flory) McNair, Thomson, Johnnie F. (Willie Dean) Shields, Atlanta, Eugene T. (Geraldine) Shields, Decatur, Bishops Henry C. (Candace) Shields, San Bernadino, CA, Bunyan A. (Mary Alice) Shields, Wrens, Wallace H. (Debra) Shields, Bainbridge Island, WA, Thurnell C. (Rhonda) Shields, Wesley Chapel, FL; daughters, Mrs. Evelyn S. Murray, Wrens, Mrs. Alma (David) Ford, Wrens, and Mrs. Minnie M. (Ronald) Geter, Jackson; sister, Lena Bell Usry, Sandersville, Ga.; 32 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; 17 great-great grandchildren, and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Thomson Funeral System was in charge of all arrangements.
