THOMSON, Ga. - Mrs. Mary Isabelle Usry Johnson, 84, widow of Mr. Floyd S. Johnson, died Friday, December 30, 2005, in the University Hospital in Augusta.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, January 2, 2006, in the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Sutphin officiating. Burial followed in the Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Joseph Murphy, Douglas Brown, Ricky Luke, Mike Hendricks and Paul McNair. Mrs. Johnson lived all of her life in McDuffie County, living in the same house where she was born until her death. Her love for her family home was only exceeded by her love for her son, grandchildren and great- grandchildren. "Granny" made her family the center of her life and will always be remembered for her loving and generous spirit. She was a master of "home-cooked" meals, using all of the vegetables in her bountiful gardens. For many years, she worked for Thomson Company and Garland Industries and was a member of Sweetwater Baptist Church.
Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Isabelle Watson Usry, and her husband, Floyd S. Johnson.
She leaves to mourn her death, but cherish her memories, her son, Floyd S. Johnson of Thomson; grandchildren, Melinda and Rocky Williams, Michelle and Terry Montgomery and Michael Johnson, all of Thomson; great-grandchildren, Christopher Williams, Mary Williams, Andy Montgomery, Steven Montgomery, Mykasha Williams and Taleatha Williams, all of Thomson; sisters, Carlene Murphy and Geraldine Bailey, both of Augusta, and Earldine Jackson of Chickasaw, Ala.; sisters-in-law, Derra Usry of Thomson, Joyce Dixon and Barbara Kellum, both of Elberton; brothers-in-law, Cliatt Johnson of Thomson and Bradshaw Johnson of Adel, Ga.; nieces, Joyce Connell of Tulsa, Okla., and Laura Wilson of Augusta; nephew and his wife, Hugh and Treda Usry of Thomson; and nephew, Douglas Brown of Augusta; and a host of great- nieces, nephews and friends.
Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
