Lost: Jake the Snake

Lost: One big snake.

Really big.

The Blalock family on Truman Street behind Thomson First Presbyterian Church is looking for Jake the Snake - a six-foot-long Columbian Red-Tailed boa constrictor that has been the family pet for more than 10 years.

"We're pretty upset about it," said John Blalock.

Mr. Blalock said his brother, Richard, placed Jake in a tree Saturday.

"Somehow he forgot him," John said. "We went fishing, and Richard never put him back in the cage."

If someone does find Jake, John said they shouldn't be scared.

"He'll probably be very sluggish right now," he said.

In fact, if someone sees a snake outside, there's a good chance it is Jake, he said.

"Because no other snake will be out right now at this time of year," he said, adding that if anyone who thinks they've found Jake can call 706-595-7199.
