DEARING, Ga. - Mr. Vernon E. Stephens, 74 of Dearing, entered into rest January 3, 2007 at the VA Medical Center.
Memorial services were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 06, 2007 at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Phil Bray officiating.
He is survived by his wife, JoeAnn Scarboro Stephens of Dearing; sons: Danny Stephens, Mobile, Ala., Mike Stephens, Thomson, Les Black, Thomson, Charles Black, Thomson, Robert Lemke, Thomson, Keith Lemke, Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.; daughter: Cindy Hemlick, Martinez; brother: Wilbur Stephens, Hephzibah; sister: Mary Stroupe, Augusta, and 11 grandchildren
Mr. Stephens was born in Coffee County, Ga., and was the son of the late John L. Stephens and the late Ruby Simmons Stephens. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was retired as a heavy equipment mechanic and a welder. Mr. Stephens was also a member of the Queen of Angels Catholic Church.
Beggs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
