THOMSON, Ga.- Mr. Milton P. Smith, 90, widower of Mrs. Corry Neal Smith, of Edgar Circle, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2004 in the McDuffie Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services her held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 12, 2004 in the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Billy Nimmons officiating. Burial was in Westview Cemetery.
Mr. Smith was a native of Columbia County, but had lived in Thomson for many years. He was retired from the Thomas Mercantile. He was a member of the Thomson First United Methodist Church. He was a Navy veteran of WWII, where he served on board the U.S.S. Wasp under the command of Franklin Roosevelt's son, John.
He was preceded in death by Mrs. Marie Todd Smith and Mrs. Corry Neal Smith.
He is survived by a step-daughter, Sara Hughes, Thomson; two nieces, Margaret Fitzgerald, Appling and Betty Adams, Canton; a nephew, Jack Smith, Florida; five loyal and devoted caregivers, Bobbie Jean, Pat, Vickie, Betty, and Johnny; four step-grandchildren, Sandra A. Hughes, Linda Hughes, Martha Singletary and Leon Millholland, Jr.; six step-great grandchildren, Cameron Millholland, Reagan Millholland, Caleb Clauson Hughes, Andrew Singletary, Sara Blackmon Hughes and Grace Blackmon Hughes.
Pallbearers were Caleb Clauson Hughes, John Fitzgerald, Robert Mayo, Jim Blackmon, Don Clauson and Ty Adams.
Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
