THOMSON, Ga. - Mrs. Florence "Na" Lokey Candler, 92, entered into rest Saturday, Jan. 10, 2004.
She was the wife of the late Charles Wesley Candler, Sr. and a daughter of the late James F. and Ila Farr Lokey.
Mrs. Candler was a native of McDuffie County, a homemaker, a member of First United Methodist Church of Thomson, she was active for many years as a Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher, United Methodist Women's leader, a member of OSME Sunday School class and retired as a telephone operator in 1945.
Graveside services were held Monday, Jan. 12, 2004, at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens at 11 a.m. with Dr. George Freeman officiating.
Survivors include one son, Charles Wesley Candler, Jr. and Judy, Thomson; two sisters, Mrs. Blanche Young and Mrs. Louise William, Washington; one brother, James Marvin (Bo) Lokey, Thomson; two grandchildren, Charles W. Candler III and wife Candy, Thomson and Jill Candler Russe ll and husband, Hal, Boston, Ga.; four great-grandchildren, Jacob Henry Russell, Jared Candler Russell, Sydner Kate Candler and Caiden Wesley Candler, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Freddie Young, Randy Young, Trey Newton, Alex Newton, Daniel Ansley, Matt Ansley, Dr. Tracy Middlebrooks, Bob Cofer, Mike Bonner and Wayne Ansley.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the Thomson First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 8, Thomson, Ga. 30824.
John B. Johnson, funeral director, was in charge of arrangements.
