Mr. Travis Fay Rooks

STAPLETON, Ga. - Mr. Travis Fay Rooks, 72, the beloved husband of 50 years to June Prescott Rooks, and the son of the late Aaron Jerimiah Rooks and the late Mattie Lou Williams Rooks, entered into rest Saturday, January 12, 2008.

Funeral services were held Monday, January 14, 2008, at 2 p.m. at James Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Wayne Racz, Rev. Sam Collins and Chaplain Pauline Hughes officiating. Burial followed at Stapleton Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Rooks was a retired supervisor at Stapleton Garment Co., a member of the Stapleton United Methodist Church and served in the National Guard. Mr. Rooks was a loving husband, father and dedicated grandfather.

Survivors include his wife, June; son, Travis E. Rooks; a daughter, Faye R. Jones and her husband, Bill; two sisters, Sue Purvis, her husband, Weldon and Nelda Williams, her husband, Jimmy, a granddaughter, Kristy Jones and a sister-in-law, Doris Rooks. Mr. Rooks is preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Rooks.

Pallbearers were his nephews: Ray Rooks, Tim Williams, Doug Williams, Daniel Bazemore, Jeff Bazemore and Clay Prescott.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to United Hospice, 620 Ponder Place Dr., Ste A, Evans, GA 30809; American Cancer Society, 2607 Commons Blvd, Augusta, GA 30909 or Stapleton United Methodist Church, c/o J.C. Kilgore, 4119 Hwy 102, Stapleton, GA 30823.
