It's a little later than in past years, but Thomson-McDuffie County Chamber of Commerce officials think they have a good reason for delaying the annual banquet: a great guest speaker.
Chamber Chairman Tommy Phelps wanted to work around the busy schedule of the president of America's second largest quick service chicken restaurant chain. Mr. Phelps announced last week the featured speaker at this year's banquet will be Dan T. Cathy, the son of Chick-fil-A Founder and Chairman Truett Cathy.
Mr. Phelps said the chamber is very fortunate to have the CEO of one of the most respected family-owned businesses as guest speaker for the Feb. 12 banquet at Belle Meade Country Club. The banquet will begin at 6:30 p.m.
He said Mr. Cathy's leadership style incorporates his own skills and talents as he personally challenges himself to uphold Chick-fil-A's efforts to provide genuine, heartfelt hospitality.
The banquet is business casual attire and seating is limited. For reservations, contact the Thomson-McDuffie Chamber office at 706-597-1000 by Feb. 7.
