Probation provider changed

McDuffie County Commissioners voted Tuesday evening to contract with a new probation service provider for McDuffie County Probate Court. CSRA Probation Services had been the provider, but at the request of new Probate Judge Valerie Burley, commissioners went with Client Management Systems.

Former Probate Judge Gene Wells had requested the change before his recent retirement, but County Attorney Sammy Fowler ruled that the contract with CSRA Probation Services was exclusive until it ran out in March.

Judge Burley stated during the meeting that she promised former Judge Wells she would continue with his recommendation before the Commission when she took office. Both companies gave presentations, but commissioners based their decision on the judge's recommendation.
