WARRENTON, Ga. - Mrs. Marie Chalker Davis, 100, beloved wife of the late Mr. Redmond Davis, died Friday, January 12, 2007, at her residence.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 14, 2007, at Magnolia Baptist Church, with the Revs. Randall Whitaker, Tommy Harwell and Adrian Burrell officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Davis, a Warren County native, was the daughter of the late Mr. William Barney Chalker, Sr. and Nellie Hammett Chalker. She was a member of the Warren County Farm Bureau, Adult Ladies Sunday School Class and Magnolia Baptist Church. The family wishes to express their thanks to C.S.R.A. Home Health, C.S.R.A. Private Duty, Inc. United Hospice, and Dr. Barry Tarpley for the love and care shown to Mrs. Davis.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Bessie and Charles Harper, Warrenton; one sister, Bernice Chalker Brooks, Gibson; adopted family, Tommy, Melanie, Meaghan and Jocelyn Harper; a special friend, Mae Tucker; and a special pet, "Snippy." Brothers, Emory, Clinton, Junior, and Avant Chalker, and a sister, Doris Smith, preceded Mrs. Davis in death.
Pallbearers were David Harper, Dewayne Wood, W. F. Norris, Joe McCommons, Robert H. Davis, Willis Johnson, Dr. Barry Tarpley, and Charles Smith. Honorary Pallbearers were Wendell Kitchens, Mike Turner, Allen Gilmer, Charles Tucker, Warren Hart, Louis Swint, Craig Usry, Michael Gilmer, Denton Johnson, Ronnie Hadden and Hollis Chalker.
