Mr. Page Robert Prater
Owner and Operator of Prater Transport, Inc.

THOMSON, Ga. - Mr. Page Robert Prater, 59, of Thomson, entered into rest January 11, 2006 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.

Survivors include wife, Jane Granade Prater, Thomson; son and daughter-in-law, Page Robert Prater II and Kimberly Mathis Prater, Thomson; daughters, Andrea Porcher Prater, Mesena, Elizabeth Leigh Prater, Dearing; mother, Frances Cullars Prater, Lincolnton; sister and brother-in-law, Kathryn Prater Robinson and Jerry L. Robinson, Sr., Washington; granddaughters, Prater Frances Thigpen, Warrenton, Riley Jane Robinson, Dearing, Anna Logan Prater, Thomson; sister-in-law, Alicia Reed Prater, Lincolnton and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Prater, the owner and operator of Prater Transport, was a native of Lincoln County, but lived in Thomson since 1987. Earlier in his life, he had been active in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, ultimately achieving the Eagle Scout Award. A 1964 graduate of Lincoln County High School, he later attended Georgia Military Academy, Abraham Baldwin College and Georgia Southern University. Also, he was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church in Thomson, and a former member of Goshen Baptist Church of Lincolnton. He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Robert Prater, and more recently, his brother, Paul Watson Prater.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Saturday, January 14, 2006 at Goshen Baptist Church, with Rev. Robert Adams officiating. Entombment followed in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jim Hobbs, Travis Reed, Wiley Dallas, Ernie Guthrie, Rusty Lovelace, Ed Whitaker. Those serving as Honorary Pallbearers include: employees of Prater Transport, Buddy Dallas, Wayne Gibson, Steve Wilson, Lamar LeRoy, Jimmy Evans, Joe Pretzello, Danny Pilgrim, Brian Beggs, Bruce Beggs, Jakie Goddard and Lloyd Axon, Mike Frazier, Gene Frazier and Barry Frazier.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Goshen Baptist Church, Lincolnton, Ga. 30817; Winship Cancer Institute, 1365 C Clifton Rd. Atlanta, Ga. 30322 and the Leukemia Society, 2625 Cumberland Pkwy. Suite 205, Atlanta 30339.

Beggs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
