Time has come to change America's income tax code Letter to the Editor Dear Editor, It is time to change the way we collect taxes in this country. The current tax code in the United States is over 60,000 pages and there is not one person in this country who understands it. Some people would argue that we need to "fix" the current tax code. Congress tried to do just that in 1986, and it failed miserably. It is dumb to beat a dead horse, and it is impossible to heal a corpse. It is time for a change. It is time to let your elected officials know that you will not tolerate tax legislation that is so complicated only a doctor of economics could understand. It is time to let your elected officials know that you are ready for a truly progressive and fair method of taxation. It is time to let your elected officials know that you will not tolerate a method of taxation that caters to lobbyists and special interests. It is time to let your elected officials know that April 15 should just be another day.
