The McDuffie County Heart Walk is almost here.
The local fundraiser will be held Saturday, Feb. 28 at 9:15 a.m. at Thomson Middle School.
"The event this year will be held in honor of Pinkie Knox," said Heart Walk Honorary Chairman Billie Thomas. "She was very active with the Heart Association here."
Local Heart Walk officials have already been busy trying to get the word out about the upcoming event and why participation in the Heart Walk is a good idea.
"The American Heart Association funds more research of heart disease and stroke than any other organization and consistently ranks in the top five charitable organizations for fiscal responsibility, percent income to research and lowest overhead costs," said local AHA representative Patricia Rinker in a letter to local businesses.
For more information on the Heart Walk, contact Thomson-McDuffie Chamber of Commerce Director Carolyn Gilbert at 597-1000, or the local AHA office at (706) 855-5005.
