Mr. Billy Jennings Beale

MARTINEZ, Ga. - Mr. Billy Jennings Beale, 76, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2007, at Doctors Hospital.

Graveside services were held on Sunday, January 21, 2007, at 3 p.m., in Westview City Cemetery in Thomson, with Pastor William H. Harrell officiating.

Billy was a graduate of Richmond Academy and the University of Georgia. He began his coaching career at Jefferson High School in Jefferson, Ga., then Gainesville High School, Gainesville, Willingham High School, Macon, and retired from Evans High School, Evans. After retirement, he coached at Aquinas High School in Augusta and at Glascock County. He was active in coaching all ages, coaching the first little league team from Augusta to go to the state tournament in 1951. He later coached boys tee ball, baseball, and both boys and girls basketball and girls softball for the Columbia County Recreation Department.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia McCommons Beale, his daughter, Gina Beale Hankins and her husband, Jimmy, of Martinez, his sons, Billy J. Beale Jr. and his wife, LuAnn, of Lincolnton, Charles E. Beale and his wife, Vickie, of Tifton, and Ricky Beale and his wife, Blaine, of Evans; nine grandchildren, Mandy Hankins, Chuck Beale, Jr., Rusty Beale, Scott Beale, Tyler Beale, Justin Beale, Adam Beale, Riley Beale, Christina Shay; one Great Granddaughter, Anna Claire Beale; Nephew, Charlie Beale and sisters and brothers-in-law, Anne and Billy Adams and Fran and Andy Lundell, all of Dublin.

He was preceded in death by his son, Walter H. Beale.

Platt's Funeral Home, Inc., was in charge of arrangements.
