Mr. Kenneth Edward King

HEPHZIBAH, Ga. - Mr. Kenneth Edward King, 64, of Hephzibah entered into rest Tuesday, January 16, 2007, at his home.

A native of Fredericktown, PA, he was a son of the late Raymond Daniel King and Ruth Cleona Bane King, and was also preceded in death by his step-mother, Mae King, and a step-sister, Sharon Guriel.

Mr. King was a 1960 graduate of Beth Central High School in Fredericktown and graduated in 1964 from Western Pennsylvania Hospital School of Nursing. He retired as a Major from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service having served in the Vietnam War, and also retired from East Central Regional Hospital in Augusta. He was active with the Cub and Boy Scouts of America and was a member of the Grace Fellowship Church in North Augusta, as well as the American Rabbit Breeders Association.

Survivors include his wife, Eleanor Wilson King; four children, Daryl King and wife Stefani of North Augusta, Norman King and wife Linda of Hephzibah, SherylAnn King of Thomson, and Henry King and his wife Kathleen Skelly of Statesboro; two brothers, Henry King of Ravenna, OH, and Tom King of Franklin, PA; two sisters, Cleona Harden of Fredericktown, Penn., and Anna Jane Moon of Medina, Ohio; two step-brothers, Vernon Ringer of Washington, Penn., and Bob Ringer of Lexington, N.C.; one step-sister, Connie Salimbrmo of Astabula, Ohio, and seven grandchildren.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 20, 2007 at Poteet Funeral Homes - South Chapel with Rev. Phillip L. Hamilton officiating. Burial followed at Bellevue Memorial Gardens. Military honors were accorded by the Fort Gordon Ceremonial Detachment.

Honorary pallbearers were Roger Gillespie, Steven Black, Ethan Cameron, Daryl King, Norman King, and Henry King.
