Land marries Reed in September ceremony

Lacey Elizabeth Land and Kenneth Fletcher Reed were united in marriage on Sept. 16, 2006 at 6:30 p.m. at Thomson First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Pat Shannon officiated the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Hollis and Carol Land of Thomson. The groom is the son of Kenneth and Debby Reed of Lincolnton.

Matrons of honor were Marie Land Evans, sister of the bride, of Thomson, and Kelli Reed Ellis, sister of the groom, of Evans. Bridesmaids were Jami Brooks, cousin of the bride; Kelli Caston, cousin of the bride; Kim Keith, cousin of the bride; and Kittrell Reese, Macy Moss and Katy Leverett. The attendants wore satin sleeveless dresses in chocolate with sage green piping.

Flower girls were Kali Crafton and Mati Bufford. They wore ivory satin and toole dresses with chocolate and sage sashes.

The groom chose his father, Kenneth Reed, as his best man. The groomsmen were David Ellis, brother-in-law of the groom; Cory Evans, brother-in-law of the bride; and Clay Turner, Steed Aycock, Cuylor Leverett, Reed McWhorter, Will McWhorter, Jake Stephens, Scott Penland, Blanchard Norman and C.J. They wore a white rose boutonniere with chocolate and sage ribbon.

Ring bearer was Dixon Land Evans, nephew of the bride. He wore a Strasburg's suit with Peter Pan color in ivory and sage ribbon.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, Hollis Land, was lovely in an ivory French taffeta ball gown designed by Anjolique. Bands of the French taffeta wrapped the waist of the strapless bodice and soft crystals adorned the neckline. The chapel length train was beautifully bustled for the reception. She wore a handmade cathedral veil of ivory French tulle designed for her by Adriana. The two tiers of the veil were finished in a peau de soie ribbon edge.

The bride carried a bouquet of beautiful ivory and chartruse green hydrangeas, ivory long stem roses grown by Mr. Paul Blankenship of North Augusta, Belles of Ireland and assorted greenery and fillers.

The bride is the granddaughter of Wallace C. Hitchcock of Augusta and the late Suzanne Hitchcock and Montine Land of Thomson and the late Connell Land.

The groom is the grandson of Gerald and Lynette Drinkard of Washington and Talmadge and Kathleen Reed of Lincolnton.

The wedding was directed by Mrs. Mary Lynn Bellman of Thomson. Music was provided by Mr. Les Regan, director of the Augusta Opera and the photographer was Mrs. Lisa Bannister.

Following the wedding, a reception was held at Savannah Lakes Resort in McCormick, S.C. It was catered by Crossroad Bar-B-Q of Gibson and Dovie's Sweet Shop by Mrs. Dovie Reed of Lincolnton. The bride's cake was made by Brenda Danner McGahee of Lincolnton.
