Pine Needle Garden Club meets

The Pine Needle Garden Club gathered on Tuesday, Dec. 13, at the home of Cindy Wilson for the annual Officer's Luncheon. The co-hostesses were Kathy Locklear, Paige Cochran and Caroline Wells. There were 16 members in attendance.

President Cindy Wilson welcomed two guests and called the short business meeting to order.

Remember When: Memories were shared by several members of other Officer's Luncheons that took place over the past 50 years.

The arrangement theme for the day was: A Christmas Wreath adorned with live floral and festive items only.

Arrangement Winners: first - Luci Wills / Sharon Wall; second - Toni Dendler; third - Krista Wells Specimen Bloom Winners: first - Luci Wills; second - Kathy Locklear, third - Krista Wells

President Cindy Wilson wrapped up the meeting with the Garden Club Prayer and the guests were invited to join the club for lunch.

On January 10, the Pine Needle Garden Club gathered at the McDuffie County Library, with 18 members in attendance.

President Cindy Wilson welcomed everyone and called the business meeting to order. The meeting began with a walk to Krista Kent's house. Billie Thomas read the flower show rules and then showed each team their area for display and design title for the flower show competition on Valentine's Day. This competition will take place in the morning. A dinner for all members and their husbands to celebrate the day will be at the home of Tom and Krista Wells that evening.

A motion was made by Judy Giles and seconded by Susan Collins that Ashley Twiggs and Becky Jones be invited to join Pine Needle Garden Club.

Yard of the month for January was awarded to Doug and Penny Whitaker on Mattox Creek Drive.

Officers for the 2006-2007 year were announced as follows:

President: Krista Wells; Vice President: Sharon Wall; Secretary: Toni Dendler; and Treasurer: Luci Wills.

Kathy Locklear introduced Amy Johnson as our guest speaker for the day and presented her with a pine needle scented candle as a thank you gift. Ms. Johnson is a representative for Creative Memories. She will be assisting our club in making the 50th anniversary scrapbook, which will be presented at the March celebration.
