83-year-old killed in Monday accident

An accident at the intersection of White Oak Road and Railroad Street claimed the life of a Thomson woman shortly before 4:20 Monday afternoon.

Lucille Turner Paschal, 83, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident after she pulled her 1994 Buick Roadmaster into the path of an oncoming car, according to Trooper Powell Allen with the Georgia State Patrol's Thomson Post.

Trooper Allen said Ms. Paschal probably didn't see the 1990 Honda Accord driven by Lakeysha Jeffery of Thomson.

"There was nothing Ms. Jeffery could do," Trooper Allen said. "She gave it a valiant try."

Trooper Allen said Ms. Paschal was at fault in the accident; therefore, no further investigation will take place.
