Man killed in Tuesday night crash
By Kristopher Well
Staff Writer
A single car accident on Cedar Rock Road Tuesday night ended in the death of a local man. Willie J. Huff, 39, of Thomson was pronounced dead at the scene by McDuffie County Coroner Rhusha Mack around 11:30 p.m.
Mr. Huff was traveling past the pecan orchard away from town in his 1989 Cadillac. In a left-hand turn, the car "left the roadway, hit some trees and was split in half," Mr. Mack said.
He added that Mr. Huff was thrown from the vehicle and pinned underneath it during the accident.
According to Sgt. Mark Bentley, the Georgia State Patrol Thomson Post commander, it appeared that Mr. Huff was not wearing his seatbelt during the accident.
