THOMSON, Ga. - Mr. Max Lorain Brooks, 62, beloved husband of Mrs. Agnes Brooks, died Monday, January 16, 2006 at his residence.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 18, in the Second Baptist Church with Dr. Ron Drawdy officiating. Burial followed in the Westview Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dennis Allen, Eddie Newsome, Jerry Tankersley, Harry Williams, John Holliman, Woody Johnson, Terry Davis and Ron Haley. Honorary pallbearers were Deacons, Trustees and members of the Adult II Sunday School Class of Second Baptist Church.
Mr. Brooks was a native of Wilkes County, but had lived in Thomson most of his life. He was a member of Second Baptist Church, where he was a Deacon and a member of the Adult II Sunday School Class. He was retired after 25 years from Georgia Iron Works. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, John Sheffield, Sr. and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Pilgrim, Sr. and is survived by his wife, Mrs. Agnes Sturkey Brooks of Thomson; son and daughter-in-law, Floyd and Mell Brooks of Thomson; daughter and son-in-law, Lorrie Ann and Tim Bales of Thomson; six grandchildren, Carmen, Rachel and Taylor Brooks, Megan, Joshua, Baby Max Bales; mother Lottie Pilgrim Sheffield of Thomson; a stepbrother and wife, John and Diane Sheffield, Jr., Evans; a stepsister and husband, Joanie and Hampton Giddens, Pearson; many cousins, friends, brothers and sisters in the Lord.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Second Baptist Church Building Fund at 1249 Earle Street NW Thomson, GA 30824 or the Cancer Center at the Medical College of Georgia at 120 15th Street Augusta, GA 30912.
