Last week, The McDuffie Mirror published a copy of the proposed school year calendar (Click here for the story and calendar) that now sits in front of the members of McDuffie County Board of Education.
School system officials released the calendar in hopes of gathering public input before the planned February 10 vote.
Don't let them be disappointed.
This is not a simple policy decision or some other issue that affects a few students here and there. This is something that affects every student, teacher and parent in the county.
And it is something that deserves your attention.
Please take the time to research this topic. There are countless resources available on the internet and there's loads of information to support those for and against the proposed calendar.
You owe it to yourself, your children and your community to form your own opinion on this issue.
And, even more importantly, you owe it to the people you elected to guide our school system to let your opinion be heard.
