WARRENTON, Ga.- Mr. John Joseph Murphey, 79, of Warrenton, beloved husband of Louise Murphey, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2004, at the VA Medical Center.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 24, at Little Brier Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Seaman officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. Murphey, a native of Richmond County, had lived in Warrenton for many years. He was a WWII Navy Veteran and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Murphey; three daughters, Dixie and Jon Wiederanders, Jacqueline and Bob Zets, and Thora Peebles, all of Warrenton; a son, Terry and Brenda Murphey, Dearing; two sisters, Lucile Grover, Interlachen, Fla. and Mildred Campbell, Laurel, Md.; two brothers, Tom Murphey, Augusta and C.P. (Pete) Murphey, Norwood, and four granddaughters.
Pallbearers were Otis Freeman, Dennis Havens, David Hicks, Brent Murphey, Pete Murphey, and Jason Walker.
