McDuffie Regional Medical Center Admission Registrar Becky Waller was named the Golden Heart Award recipient for December.
Mrs. Waller has been the Admission Registrar since February 1993. Her supervisors said she has a wonderful rapport with the patients and their family as she registers them. She is considerate and kind in a professional manner, and that attitude comes across to the patient and families. Her empathy goes deeper than her job description stemming from her heart. This says a lot about her as a person and as a fellow associate, they said.
"I have heard compliments from the patients and family such as, 'Thank you so much for helping us,' or 'I appreciate your kindness,'" said Dianne Murphy, manager of registration.
Mrs. Waller gets along well with other hospital staff members. She works closely with Nursing Service, Case Management, Surgery and the Business Office. She is constantly on the phone getting pre-certifications started for Case Management, calling for benefits on the pre-op patients before their scheduled procedures, reviewing inpatient records from the emergency room, and yet she still manages to remain considerate of others.
Mrs. Waller has been certified through the National Association of Health Care Access Management - the only national certification for registration services.
"There is so much more I could say about Becky as a person, but I think that being chosen as 'Golden Heart Winner' would say it better than words," Mrs. Murphy said.
