Martin wins second player of the week honor

Former Thomson High Lady Bulldog Monique Martin continues to have a record-breaking season for Brewton-Parker College.

For the second time in a month, the senior guard from Thomson was named Player of the Week for the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) following wins over Flagler College (67-58) and Columbia College (102-66) during the week of Jan. 15. She was previously named NAIA Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 4.

In the two games, Martin averaged 32 points and 10 rebounds for the Lady Barons (16-5, 8-5 SSAC). She finished the week shooting 43 percent from the field, 33 percent from behind the arc, and 64 percent from the free throw line. Martin had a total of 9 assists, 3 blocks, and 10 steals over the two games.

By winning the weekly award, Martin can now be considered for the NAIA Player of the Year award to be announced at the end of the season.
