A Thomson native was recently named to the 2005 Academic All-Gulf South Conference Football Team.
Chris Thigpen, a senior long snap specialist for the West Georgia Braves football team, has maintained a perfect 4.0 grade-point average while pursuing a degree in education.
The Academic All-GSC Team was chosen in a joint vote of the conference's Sports Information Directors and Faculty Athletic Representatives.Student-athletics must have an overall GPA of 3.2 or better for their entire academic career, and be a significant contributor to the squad.Other factors considered include leadership, extra-curricular activities, and community service.
UWG's football and soccer programs produced 10 honor roll members.Among them, Andre Culpepper, another Thomson native, majoring in chemistry, and anchoring the defensive line.
Selection to the GSC Academic Honor Roll is based on a student-athletes participation, and having a minimum GPA of 3.0 for their entire collegiate career.
