Mrs. Mildred Story Phillips
Retired Business Owner

THOMSON, Ga. - Mrs. Mildred Story Phillips, 95, of Thomson, entered into rest January 29, 2008, at Lake Crossing Health Center. She was the beloved wife of the late William Mundy Phillips.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Friday, February 1, 2008, at the First Baptist Church in Thomson with Dr. Leonard DuPree officiating. Interment followed in Westview Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Dwight Nicholson, Tracy Phillips, Stacy Phillips, Scott Spivey, Joe Cash and Caleb Cash. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Sunshine Sunday School Class, members of the Lydian Sunday School Class and members of the WMU.

Mrs. Phillips was born in Columbia County, but lived most of her life in McDuffie County. She was the daughter of the late George W. Story and the late Agnes Motes Story. Mrs. Phillips was retired as owner and operator of Phillips' Grocery, Phillips' Barbeque and Phil-Up Grill and Brazier. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she worked with and taught Sunday School for more than 50 years. Mrs. Phillips also served as pianist, was a member of the Adult Choir and a member of the WMU. She was also a community volunteer for many years.

Survivors include sons, Billy Phillips and Tommy Phillips (Sue) all of Thomson; daughters, Gloria Colet (Larry), Augusta, Sherene Nicholson (Jerry), Saluda, S.C.; sisters: Laura Adams and Betty Harrell both of Augusta; son-in-law: Alex Boatwright; and 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter Joy Boatwright.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Capital Campaign P. O. Box 1205 Thomson, GA 30824.

Beggs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
