Chamber announces board
The Thomson-McDuffie Chamber of Commerce recently announced it's 2007 Board of Directors. They are: Tommy Phelps (Chairman), Cindy Cox (Vice Chair), Diane Wood, Jason Smith, Steve Dwyer, Evan Flynn, Sean Kelley, Dena Williams, Sue Richards, Angela Blair, Jennifer Allen, Bobby Hildreth, Richard Morgan, Kathy Hawkins and Andy Knox, Jr. Also, Brad Adams is an ex-officio member.
Hospital Authority gets two new members
The McDuffie County Hospital Authority recently voted unanimously to approve the nominations of John Seay and Ms. Michelle Collins to serve an initial four-year term on the authority effective Feb. 26.
Ms. Collins is a 1985 Thomson High School graduate and earned a bachelor's degree in business management from Fort Valley State College and a masters degree from Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Tex. She retired from the U.S. military in February 2003 with the rank of captain. Ms. Collins serves as the church administrator for Springfield Baptist Church in Thomson. Ms. Collins is a very active member of Springfield Baptist Church.
Mr. Seay is an Albany High School graduate, received his bachelor's degree in political science from Georgia Southwestern College and a masters degree in criminal justice from Troy State University in 1979. Mr. Seay is retired after a distinguished career with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation serving in Americus, Albany, and ultimately agent-in-charge in Thomson in 1997. In 1995, he was detached to the State Olympic Law Enforcement Command. Mr. Seay is an active member of the First Baptist Church in Thomson and has been married to his wife, Linda, for 35 years whom he met in college in 1972.
