Finnerty named to all-star team
From Staff Reports
Thomson High School football standout Pat Finnerty once again was recognized for his prowess on the gridiron. Late last year, the offensive lineman was named to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution's All-State team. He also made The Augusta Chronicle's All-Area team.
Last week, Pat added another award to his bookshelf. He was named to the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association All-Star Team. Thomson Coach Luther Welsh nominated Pat, one of three Thomson players whose names were sent in for consideration.
Pat has been appreciative of the awards, but he told The McDuffie Mirror after his selection to the AJC team in December that wins were what he hoped for instead of personal acknowledgment.
"All the recognition I need is just seeing points on the board," he said. "That feels better than anybody telling me I had a good block."
