Thanks for your article about Roger Reid in the Dec. 4, 2003 issue of The McDuffie Mirror.
At the Winfield Community Center, Our Sturgis/Shields Family Association presented a program, "Tribute to Bill Shields". Mr. Reid was an important part of the program. He and his wife attended. Roger wrote a nice letter for the appreciation of the life of Bill Shields and told of the times he and Bill served together in the Pacific Theater during World War II. They enjoyed a friendship in the VFW.
Bill Shields died six months after this program in which his family members participated. We are so pleased that we recognized Bill Shields and his service to his family and our country.
We can be very pleased that you interviewed Roger Reid and wrote this story so we can all stop and thank him for serving our country.
