Duo bring Celtic sounds to Depot

Approximately 80 people attended the Chamber of Commerce concert last Friday night at the Depot to hear the Celtic duo of Jamie Laval on the violin and Ashley Broder on the mandolin.

The McDuffie Mirror asked several members of the audience for their opinions of the show:

"I had heard them before in Asheville, but I had not seen the footstomping (that they did here). They were wonderful." - Emily Baumann

"I love classical music, and I saw in the paper what type of music they would be playing, so I wanted to come. I like old music." - Randy Dunnaway.

"I'm enjoying it very much. We go to Hiawassee, Ga., for the fiddlers' convention every year, and I like this music. They have a very good sound - love that mandolin." - Judy Booth.

"I'm enjoying it alot. It's a pleasant way to end the week." - Tinye Harding.

"We're enjoying it greatly. It's very stimulating, and they are exceptionally talented." - Phil and Jean Turner.

"It is absolutely awesome. We've had a blast, and they just kind of (drew) us right in." - Debbie Gower

"People don't realize that we've got world-class musicians here. These guys are instructors at some of the camps I've been to. They instruct and perform all over the world." - Lilly Morris

"Oh, we love it here. You can't beat the stone walls and high ceiling acoustics for these kind of strings (instruments)." - Ashley Broder
