Ms. Sarah Printup Smith

GREENSBORO, Ga. - Ms. Sarah Printup Smith, age 95, of Greensboro, died Tuesday, February 5, 2008, at Willow Run Retirement Home.

Born on April 3, 1912, in McDuffie County, she was the daughter of the late Billy Reuben Printup and Elizabeth Nichols Printup. She was procurement secretary for the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur D. Smith; her first husband Julian W. Phillips, Sr.; son, Michael Phillips; and siblings, Robert Printup, Mozelle Printup and Margaret Adams.

She is survived by daughters, Michaelle "Mickey" Skinner and husband, Donald, of the Liberty Community, and Martha Ann Whitaker and husband, Carlton E., of Appling; a son, Julian W. Phillips of El Cajon, Calif.; nine grandchildren, Mike Phillips, Rob Phillips, Carla Cato, Mark Whitaker, Lynn Facey, Alex Sanders, Pete Phillips, Scott Phillips and Buddy Phillips; nine great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, February 7, 2008, at 10 a.m. at Liberty United Methodist Church in White Plains, Ga., with Rev. Edward A. Swehla officiating. Interment followed at Dearing City Cemetery in Dearing at noon.

Serving as pallbearers were Stewart Lord, Ryan Cato, Jordan Whitaker, Mark Whitaker, Alex Sanders and Gary Cato.

The family requests that any memorials be made to Liberty United Methodist Church Building Fund, c/o Ann Smith, 2491 Shiloh Road, Greensboro, GA 30642.

McCommons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
