AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Sharkey F. Krome entered into rest peacefully with his family beside him at his son's home in Thomson on Thursday, February 8, 2007.
Mr. Krome was a native of Ft. McClellan, Ala. He served in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps during WWII and the Korean Conflict and later as a Drill Sergeant at Paris Island. Mr. Krome was a Golden Glove Boxing Champion, a Past Master and Secretary of Webbs Lodge 166 Free and Accepted Masons, a member of the Scottish Rite and Elizabeth Chapter of the Eastern Star, Knights Templar & York Rite and member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He retired after 19 years with Civil Service at Fort Gordon as an electrical lineman.
Survivors include his wife; Grace J. Krome, sons; Sharkey H. Krome of Hephzibah, Steven T. Krome and his wife, Karen, of Thomson, daughters; Tina K. Ogle and her husband, Mike, Judy K. Holton and Leah K. Lamb and her husband, Rusty, all of Augusta, grandchildren; Andrew Pritchett, James Holton, Heath Ogle, Heather Krome and Ryker Krome, sisters; Carla Christine Brean of California and the late Vera K. Adams.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, February 11, 2007, at 2:30 p.m., in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Marion Jay and Rev. Jim Johnson officiating.
Serving as pallbearers were Sharkey Krome, Steve Krome, Andrew Pritchett, James Holton, Heath Ogle, Ryker Krome, Mike Ogle and Rusty Lamb. Interment followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors was in charge of arrangements.
