GIBSON, Ga. -- Mr. Wade Jackson, 65, beloved husband of Mrs. Connie Kitchens-Jackson of Gibson, entered into rest Wednesday, February 9, 2005 at his residence.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, 2005 at Fellowship Baptist Church, with Rev. Bert Mauldin officiating. Burial followed in the Gibson City Cemetery.
Mr. Jackson, a native of Hancock County, was a retired Chief Deputy Sheriff. He served as Chief Deputy of the Hancock Sheriffs Department for over 37 years and as chief deputy of the Glascock County Sheriffs Department for over five years. Mr. Jackson was a member of the Peace Officers' Association, and of the Culverton Baptist Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and served in the Georgia National Guard.
Survivors include his wife Connie Kitchens-Jackson, Gibson; one daughter Wendy (Mark) Simons, Gibson; one brother Wayne "Toot" (Peggy) Jackson, Mitchell; two sisters Peggy (Del) Smith, Thomson, and Anzenet (Bobby) Richardson, Piedmont SC; a grandson, Justin Simons and a honorary family member J. T. "Slim" Walton of Sparta.

Pallbearers were Chris Adams, Dewayne Lyons, Bobby Jackson, David Usry, Kenny Boyer, Ronnie Hadden, Steve Mathis, Randy Richardson, and Mark Simons. Honorary pallbearers were members of local law enforcement agencies.
Lowe Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
