The basketball Bulldogs made it to the state playoffs.
Thomson's varsity boys' basketball team (20-7, 8-5 Region 3-AAAA) will play in the opening round of the state tournament tomorrow against No. 9 ranked Douglas County.
They will be looking to improve on their showing in the region tournament held in Burke County last week. In the tournament they fell to two opponents ranked in the top 15 in the state.
The Bulldogs defeated Jones County 58-44 in the opening game of the region tournament on Feb. 11. Thomson spread the scoring out with three players in double figures. James Farmer and Dontavions Lowe contributed 14 points each and Bookie Reese had 13.
Thomson then fell in the second game of the tournament to no. 2 Butler 50-42 on Feb. 13. Thomson also lost to No. 13 Baldwin County 60-54 in their final game of the tournament.
The opening round game for Thomson will be played at Jones County High School starting at 5:30 p.m.
