Tim McCord may remain a Bulldog in college.
The Thomson High School senior wingback was recently offered a partial scholarship of a minimum of $8,000 to Cumberland University in Tennessee.
"I'm relieved and very excited to know I can further my education while still playing the game that I love with this wonderful opportunity," McCord said.
In his three years on the varsity squad McCord compiled 1,054 rushing yards, six touchdowns and 29 receiving yards, according to Thomsonfootball.com
Cumberland University runs a wing-T offense which is similar to the package ran at THS, except with a lot more passing. McCord will be right in the middle of all the action where he will play the fullback position.
"Tim is such a great ball player who works hard every snap," said Assistant Football Coach Chris Hodges, who recently accompanied McCord on the 12-hour trip to meet the Cumberland staff. He can do a lot of things really well and is an all-around good athlete. I feel it's a great chance for him if he's willing to take it."
McCord said he isn't sure if he'll accept the scholarship yet. His parents don't like the fact that he will be so far away. His other choices will be between Morehouse, South Carolina State and Georgia Southern.
