THOMSON, Ga.- Mr. Robert Lee Sturkey, 54, of Sturkey Lane, died Monday, Feb. 16, 2004, in the McDuffie Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, in the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Reginald Blakewood officiating. Burial was in the Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Sturkey was a native of McDuffie County. He worked at the Thomson Company for many years as a Cutter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Fonzie Sturkey and his only child, a daughter, Kellie Sturkey.
He is survived by five sisters, Mary Langham and husband Bunyan, Gladys Keller, Kathleen Morris and Hester, Agnes Brooks and husband Max and Rita Treadwell; four brothers, Buck Sturkey, Bobby Sturkey, Billie Sturkey and David (Bud) Sturkey; many nephews and nieces; one god-child, Michael Wade Jackson.
Pallbearers were Johnney Keller, Floyd Brooks, Anthony Treadwell, James (Buster) Langham, Benji Sturkey and Adam Sturkey. Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
