Mrs. Quinelene "Quinn" Chavous Smith

THOMSON, Ga. - Mrs. Quinelene "Quinn" Chavous Smith, 75, beloved wife of the Bishop Chester M. Smith, entered into rest on Sunday, February 24, 2008, at McDuffie Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, February 27, 2008, at Flowing Wells Worship Center in Augusta, with the Rev. Wayne Hicks and the Rev. Tony Rhodes officiating. Music was provided by the Rev. Tony Henderson. Interment followed in the Norris Chapel Holiness Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Quinn was born in Augusta to the late Sterling and Berta Chavous. She had worked at Homestead Draperies for 21 years in the Returns Department. Mrs. Quinn was a member of Flowing Wells Worship Center. She had served as Sunday School Teacher and Youth Director at Hill and Cooper Church. She was Director of the Women's West Carolina District of the Congregational Holiness Church. She also served as Women's Ministry as Director. Sister Quinn was the 1st Lady of the Congregational Holiness Church.

Her family said she was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. Survivors include her husband of 39 years, Bishop Chester M. Smith; one daughter and son-in-law, Tuilene and Alvin Jenkins, Grovetown; two grandchildren, Ronnie Lamar Hammack, II and Toby Dewayne Hammack; and one great-grandchild, Dautrey D.Hammack.

If so desired, memorials may be made to American Hospice, 4314 Belair Frontage Road, Augusta, GA 30909.

Pallbearers were Don Meyers, Leslie Wayne Meyers, Dale Meyers, Timmy Meyers, Paul Hughes, and Rodney Hollar.

Starling Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
