District Attorney Dennis Sanders honored by magazine

Super Lawyers Magazine announced that Dennis Sanders of Thomson was selected as one of the top 5 percent of the attorneys in the State of Georgia.

Super Lawyers Magazine identifies qualified candidates using a multi-step process. Lawyers throughout Georgia were asked to nominate the best attorneys they have personally observed in action. Twenty-three thousand ballots were sent out to attorneys throughout Georgia asking for nominations. Lawyers with the highest points are then nominated and sent to a research department. The researched nominations are then submitted to a blue ribbon panel for final selection. Only the top 5 percent of lawyers in Georgia are selected and listed in Super Lawyers Magazine.

Mr. Sanders started his career as an Assistant District Attorney and was first elected as District Attorney of the Toombs Judicial Circuit in 1984. Mr. Sanders said that he was honored by the selection.

"Each of us wants to be respected by our peers in our profession," he said. "When something like this occurs, it is truly humbling. I feel very honored to be included with the outstanding lawyers that are listed in Super Lawyer Magazine."

This has been a year of honors for Mr. Sanders. He was named District Attorney of the Year and was also selected as chairman of the Ethics Panel for the State Bar of Georgia this year as well.

Mr. Sanders is married to Kay Sanders, who is principal of North Columbia Elementary School. They have two sons, Shane and Reid Sanders. Shane Sanders is married to the former Rebecca Berry of Thomson and is living in Augusta where he is a financial analyst for Electrolux. Reid is a junior at Mercer Law School, his father's alma mater.
