APPLING, Ga. - Mrs. Margaret Elouise Boger Goldman, born July 3, 1922, beloved wife of the late Sterling G. Goldman Sr., entered into rest Thursday, February 23, 2007 at University Hospital.
Mrs. Goldman, a native of High Point, N.C. has resided in Augusta for 54 years. She was a graduate of Mitchell College in Statesville. She worked for the Office of Emergency Management in Washington, D.C. from 1942 to 1944. From there, she worked at the Naval Supply Depot in Norfolk, Va., and returned to Winston Salem, N.C., in October of 1945 and then near Sparta, N.C., from 1946 to 1950. After moving to Augusta she became a member of Bayvale Baptist Church where she served as pianist, Sunday school teacher, and choir member.
She recently moved to Winfield community in Appling and became a member of Second Baptist of Thomson. Funeral services were held at Bayvale Baptist Church, 2240 Bayvale Road, Sunday, February 25, 2007 at 3 p.m. with Rev. James Bland, Rev. Charlie K. Deloach and Dr. Ron Drawdy officiating. Burial was at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Survivors include her son, Sterling Gibson "Gibbs" (Bonnie) Goldman, Rockville, Va.; her daughter, Karen Goldman (Ron) Haley, Appling; five grandchildren, Rhonda Haley Blackmon, Adam Haley, Jenna Goldman, Melody Goldman Vonetes, Megan Goldman Waters; eight great-grandchildren, Whitney Hogan, Corydon Haley, Morgan Whaley, Gregory Blackman, Amber Blackman, Dalton Deal, Nathan Haley and Lexi Vonetes.
