DOT variances granted
From Staff Reports
The biggest hurdle to the Transportation Improvement project has been cleared. The project that will transform the look of downtown Thomson needed design variances to allow several things, such as narrower travel lanes, that are not currently in compliance with state law.
According to Pat Mahoney with Chasman and Associates who designed the changes to downtown, the Georgia Department of Transportation has approved those variances.
"This is one of the key approvals that was needed for the TE project to move forward," she said.
