Mr. James (Jamie) Lee Sturgis, Sr.
THOMSON, Ga.- Funeral services for Mr. James (Jamie) Lee Sturgis, Sr., 81, of Twin Oaks Rd., Thomson, were held on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004 at 2 p.m. at the Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Anthoni McElrath, Pastor, officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Mr. Sturgis was a McDuffie County native and a U.S. Army Veteran and received the Purple Heart Award. He was also a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.
Survivors are six daughters, Evelyn Sturgis and Cora Jackson of Thomson, Marie Casey of Clarksville, Tenn., Eva Jones of Waynesville, Mo., Betty Wiggins of Albany, Ga., Desiree Fuquay of Memphis, Tenn.; three sons, James Sturgis, Jr., Robert Sturgis and Curtis Sturgis, all of Thomson; 12 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Thomson Funeral System was in charge of arrangements.
