THOMSON, Ga. - Mr. Roger Bales, 82, loving husband of the late Mrs. Bessie Maude Cooper Bales, entered into rest at his residence Monday, February 25, 2008.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Mitchell Full Gospel Church with Rev. Ronnie Shelton, Rev. Jacky Downs, and Rev. Eddie Renew officiating. Interment was in the Cooper Family Cemetery.
Mr. Bales was a native of Glascock County and lived in Thomson most of his life. He was an Army Veteran of World War II and a Christian.
He is survived by his children: five sons, George (Nancy) Bales of Augusta, Rodney Bales and Gail Bales of Punta Gorda, Belize and Grovetown, respectfully, Ronald (Khongok) Bales of Naknek, Alaska, Donald (Debra) Bales of Gibson, and Troy (Marie) Bales of Gibson; four daughters, Becky (Billy) Reese of Thomson, Brenda Brown and Frank Corley of Mitchell, Connie (Dewitt) Johnson of Suwanee, and Wanda (Frank) Youngblood of Gibson; one brother, Bill Bales of Thomson; two sisters, Ethel Wood of Thomson and Louise McNeal of Gibson; 50 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eli and Jutson Avera Bales.
Pallbearers were Tray Franks, Duke Whitfield, Rodrick Brown, Frank Youngblood, III, Jeff Bales, Deric Bales, Keneth Bales, and Kenny Bales.
Sheppard Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
