Faces of the Storm: Sarah Forth

Last week's tornado in Thomson may have left much to clean up at the McDuffie County Board of Education office, but one local resident has enough of her own mess to deal with.

Sarah Forth spends her days as a custodian at the BOE central office, but the house on Shank Street that she calls home needed more attention than even she could give. A tree cut through a corner of the house and left her homeless.

Joel Sanders of Big Dog Stump and Tree examined the damage Friday afternoon and told Ms. Forth to contact her landlord. He said it wasn't worth Ms. Forth paying to have the tree removed and the damage repaired.

Family members were helping her get things squared away, but they were upset at what they perceived as an unequal response to the damage in their neighborhood as compared to the Hickory Hill area.

Ms. Forth spent Thursday evening at her daughter's home. She didn't know where to go or what to do after that.
