DEARING, Ga. - Mr. Ovie Gene Ragland, 72, husband of 45 years to Mrs. Linda Hunt Ragland, entered into rest Friday, March 3, 2006 at his residence.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Monday, March 6, 2006 at the Silver Run Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Pitman officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Mr. Ragland was a native of Lafayette, Tenn. and lived in Dearing most of his life. He was a member of the Silver Run Baptist Church and the Adult Sunday School Class. He retired from the A & P Super Market and from the McDuffie County School System as a bus driver for 13 years. Mr. Ragland served in the Army during the Berlin Crisis.
Survivors include one son, Michael (Marie) Ragland, Sparta; two daughters, Pat Ragland Schuller, Nashville, Tenn. and Tonia (Buck) Thompson, Mantachie, Tenn.; one sister, Estelle Whittemore, Lafayette; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Butch Blount, Sonny Welch, Derrick Whitaker, Lucky Walker, Jeff Hunt and Lee Smith.
Starling Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
